The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is happy to announce they recently contributed to the Al-Furqan Learning Centre’s mission by donating 15 laptops. This meaningful donation not only underscores ERA’s commitment to environmental sustainability but also addresses the pressing need for technology in supporting the educational endeavors of the mosque.
As a vibrant hub offering community services and educational programs, the Al-Furqan Learning Centre plays a pivotal role in fostering learning and cultural exchange. However, as the world increasingly relies on digital tools, the demand for access to technology has become crucial for students completing homework, assignments, and engaging in self-study while at the facility. Visit their website HERE for more information.
Recognizing this need, ERA’s donation of 15 laptops serves as a significant enhancement to the educational infrastructure of the Al-Furqan Learning Centre. These laptops will empower students, allowing them to access online resources, complete assignments, and enhance their digital literacy skills within the facility.
The laptops provided by ERA will not only support the students in their educational endeavors but also lay the groundwork for additional community-focused initiatives. The mosque, in its efforts to enhance digital literacy, plans to organize computer classes for parents. These classes will serve as an opportunity to teach the basics of operating a computer, ensuring that parents can actively participate in their children’s education and bridge the digital knowledge gap.
The collaboration between the Electronic Recycling Association and Al-Furqan Learning Centre signifies the power of community partnerships and the positive change that can arise from organizations working together. As these laptops find their place within the mosque’s walls, they not only symbolize technological empowerment but also represent the collective effort to create a more connected, educated, and digitally inclusive community.
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. For over fifteen years, ERA has offered simple solutions to help individuals and organizations prevent operational equipment from premature destruction. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada. We believe that reuse before recycling is critical in managing the waste created by computer hardware, and by offering industry-leading data destruction for all equipment we receive, we have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment. Because not everything ERA receives can be reasonably repurposed, we have partnered with certified recycling organizations to process equipment that has reached the end of its productive life.
