ERA Donates Computers to Organizations in Chilliwack, Little Current and Edmonton

By electronic recycling association August 27, 2020

The ERA receives donation requests from all across Canada on a regular basis and we do our best to help every eligible group with the technology they need. We were happy to recently help 3 organizations located in BC, ON, and AB.

Greendale Mennonite Brethren Church located in Chilliwack, BC exists to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ to the world that all would intimately know God, faithfully follow Christ, and be empowered by the Holy Spirit. They seek to be a Gospel revealing community through the way they love God, love one another and the world around them. Their church doesn’t have the money to move forward with technology so the ERA was glad to support them with the donation of a projector.

Manitoulin Radio Communication owns a Canadian radio station that broadcasts at 100.7 FM in Little Current, Ontario, serving Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands. They reached out to ERA for new computers for their studios and we were happy to donate 2 laptops and 2 desktop computers.

Bissell Centre in Edmonton, AB is on a mission to work with communities to empower people to move from poverty to cultural, social and economic prosperity.

Jill Thursby works in the Homeless to Homes Program, which houses chronically homeless. She made a request to ERA for 3 laptops to provide for clients that are returning to work or school or have a need to contact family members that they have not been in contact with in sometime. The laptops will help them work on their resumes, do internet banking, and take online classes.

Bissell Centre believes a community without poverty will see:

  • Families and individuals have sustainable livelihoods, secure housing, and can meet their basic daily needs.
  • Families and individuals are fully engaged in their community because of strong support networks, a sense of safety, and improved physical and mental health.
  • Families and individuals have hope for the future.
  • Individuals have access to the resources and opportunities they need to reach their full potential and participate equally within the community.
  • Diversity is celebrated in a spirit of mutual respect and dignity.
