Supporting Electronics Recycling in Winnipeg

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to announce a new partnership with New Media Manitoba.

On June 25 and 26, 2026, both organizations hosted a community electronics collection event in Winnipeg. The event gave local professionals, businesses and community members a convenient way to recycle unwanted electronics.

Thanks to everyone who participated, approximately 150 pounds of electronics were collected.

New Media Manitoba Supports the Community

New Media Manitoba helped organize and promote the event across its professional and community networks.

The non-profit organization supports Manitoba’s digital media and technology sector through training, networking, workforce development and business programs.

Through this partnership, participants could responsibly recycle unwanted computers and IT equipment. At the same time, they supported technology reuse and future community donations.

ERA sincerely thanks the New Media Manitoba team for helping make the event a success.

Giving Collected Electronics a Second Life

ERA’s technical team will now inspect the collected equipment.

Whenever possible, reusable devices will receive:

  • Secure data wiping
  • Professional cleaning
  • Hardware testing
  • Repairs or upgrades
  • Preparation for donation

ERA may donate refurbished computers to charities, schools, non-profit organizations and people who face barriers to accessing technology.

However, some equipment cannot be reused. ERA will recycle these items responsibly to recover useful materials and keep electronic waste out of landfills.
