“Are they going to have a good day? Will they make life-long friendships? Will they be happy in their new environment? What will they learn?”

These are just some of the thoughts that goes through a parent’s mind while sending their child off to their first day of school. We all want our children to enjoy every experience of life, whether it’s at home, school, or through extra-curricular activities. Parents of children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder have the added pressure to ensure their children keep up with what their peers are learning. This process can be a daunting experience, especially for parents who have never dealt with the disorder before and may not know how to help integrate their children with other kids.

Registered as a charity, La Fondation Place Coco relies solely on donations from private donors. They reached out to the ERA for laptops to support adding a coding component to their camp and needed computers for their participants to utilize. Today, the ERA is proud to fulfill their request and provide the organization with 5 laptops that will be used towards their brand-new coding program.

La Fondation Place Coco is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2008 that manages a preschool in Montreal-West. The organization was founded as a result of a personal journey and frustration due to the lack of services available for families and children coping with young kids that have been diagnosed with an Autistic disorder. The foundation aims to enrich the lives of families living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and offers a regular preschool curriculum where they integrate children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder with children of neuro-typical development. This learning experience focuses on preparing children for successful amalgamation into the school system. The organization promotes learning and social skills development for children aged 2.5 – 6 years old at the Little Red Playhouse and hosts a pre-teen camp that focuses on fitness, computer literacy, and social skills.

At the ERA, our focus is to provide the appropriate devices for the youth to achieve excellence. When a company or individual upgrades their electronics, they typically have no use for the old one they’re replacing. The ERA data wipes and refurbishes each electronic device we collect and gives them a fresh “new life”. By donating our collections, we’re able to support thousands of organizations and individuals that may not have the funds to purchase brand new devices. Supporting the future generation with the right electronics will allow them to do things that are not yet possible today.

Consider donating your old electronics to the ERA and support an organization like La Fondation Place Coco. Used electronics can be dropped of at any one of our depots, or can be collected by our team by booking a pickup!
