Mississauga’s Electronics Recycling Drive Keeps Thousands of Pounds of Tech Out of Landfills

By electronic recycling association May 9, 2025

The City of Mississauga, in partnership with the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) and Partners in Project Green, has demonstrated the power of community-driven sustainability.

From April 14 to 27, 2025, residents across Mississauga took part in a city-wide electronics recycling initiative, dropping off unwanted devices at multiple community centres and libraries. This impactful campaign resulted in the diversion of 9,643 pounds of electronic waste from Canadian landfills.

Accepted electronics included laptops, desktops, tablets, phones, printers, gaming systems, and various tech accessories. Every device collected will be refurbished for donation to Canadian charities, nonprofits, and schools, or responsibly recycled in accordance with environmental regulations.

“We’re thrilled by the community’s participation and ongoing commitment to reducing e-waste,” said Bojan Paduh, Founder of the Electronic Recycling Association. “This initiative not only protects the environment but also helps bridge the digital divide by providing technology to those in need.”

ERA extends its gratitude to all Mississauga residents who contributed to this initiative, as well as to the community centres and libraries that hosted drop-off locations.
