Supporting Adult Education in Ontario Through Electronic Recycling

By electronic recycling association June 25, 2025

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support the Organization for Literacy in Lambton—also known as Literacy Lambton—with a donation of four refurbished laptops to empower adult learners across Sarnia, Ontario.

Literacy Lambton is a vital community resource, helping individuals improve their literacy and essential skills to reach personal, academic, and professional goals. Many of the organization’s learners face significant financial barriers, where basic needs take priority over access to technology. For them, even a refurbished laptop can be a game-changer.

With these donated laptops, learners can now:

  • Access virtual tutoring and mentorship despite barriers like transportation or childcare.
  • Prepare for and complete industry-required certifications using updated software.
  • Upgrade high school credits through online coursework—improving employment and post-secondary pathways.

This initiative aligns with ERA’s mission to reduce electronic waste while promoting digital inclusion across Canada. By refurbishing donated electronics, ERA extends the life of technology and helps underserved individuals and communities thrive.

Over 500 Charities Still Waiting

With over 500 charities currently on ERA’s waitlist, the need for gently used laptops, tablets, smartphones, and desktop computers is greater than ever. Your unused tech could help someone access education, find a job, or stay connected with support networks.
