The Park at Willowglen in Calgary Hosts a Two Week E-waste Collection for Earth Month

By electronic recycling association April 5, 2022

As a part of Earth Month activities in April, northeast Calgary gets a perfect opportunity to join the green activities and cut down the negative environmental footprint.

E-waste has been one of the fastest growing waste streams globally. The key in minimizing the amount of pollution surrounding the large scale use and replacement of technology products is finding environmentally sustainable disposal options.

The Park at Willowglen, Porte Communities, and the Electronic Recycling Association are hosting a collection event for unwanted, discarded IT electronics and e-waste.

The collection event takes place @ The Park at Willowglen for 2 weeks, from April 4th to April 15th.

One Day Shredding Event – On Tuesday, April 12th, between 10-2.  Watch your hard drives and data-storing components securely destroyed on site!

All Porte Communities tenants, as well as other businesses and individuals are invited to bring their old IT/gaming devices for drop off at one of the 3 spots at The Park.

Making a positive change is simple and safe! You can make a choice on what you no longer have any use and dispose by making a meaningful environmental and social impact.

The ERA is a leading Canadian Non-profit program handling electronic waste, in a reuse-first and community-minded approach.

All useful devices collected in this program are refurbished for reuse through donations or low-cost tech access, and end-of-life items are responsibly recycled.

Together we can ensure that:

  1. Lifecycle of valuable technology is prolonged after the first use
  2. Local community programs benefit from basic digital access
  3. No toxic substances enter the environment (e.g. lead, mercury, barium, lithium)
  4. No precious metals and rare earth elements are irretrievably lost (e.g. gold, silver, platinum, palladium)

Porte has been serious about real estate since 1968. And in those 50+ years, we’ve learned we aren’t just developing or managing properties, we’re helping build communities. It’s a labour of love that carries a great amount of responsibility—one we take very seriously.
