The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) was proud to partner with Zibi to successfully host a special Earth Day E-Waste Collection Event in the Ottawa and Gatineau region on April 21, 2026.
This unique community initiative featured two collection locations on the same day, positioned on both sides of the Chaudière Bridge to make participation easier for residents and businesses in both Ontario and Quebec.
The event reflected a shared commitment to sustainability, responsible recycling, and building greener communities.
ERA and Zibi: A Strong Sustainability Partnership
ERA was honoured to collaborate with Zibi, one of Canada’s leading sustainable mixed-use developments located along the Ottawa River.
Known for its innovative environmental planning, renewable district energy systems, low-carbon vision, and community-first approach, Zibi continues to set a high standard for future-focused urban development.
Their environmental values strongly align with ERA’s mission to reduce electronic waste, protect data, and extend the life of technology through reuse and responsible recycling.
Two Convenient Collection Locations
To maximize accessibility and community participation, the event was hosted at two separate locations:
- Gatineau Collection Site – 15 Rue Jos-Montferrand, Gatineau, QC
- Ottawa Collection Site – 310 Miwate Private, Ottawa, ON
Residents were able to safely drop off unwanted electronics at the location most convenient to them.
415 Pounds of Electronics Responsibly Collected
Thanks to strong community participation, the event successfully collected 415 pounds of electronics for responsible reuse and recycling.
Every item collected represents waste diverted from landfill and a step toward a more sustainable future.
Secure Electronics Recycling with ERA
Community members participated knowing their electronics would be handled responsibly through ERA’s trusted reuse-first process.
Services included:
- Secure data destruction for devices containing personal or business information
- Environmentally responsible recycling
- Refurbishment of reusable electronics
- Technology donations to charities, schools, and non-profit organizations across Canada
This model helps divert waste from landfill while supporting digital inclusion nationwide.
Supporting Earth Day Through Action
The event served as a practical Earth Day solution for individuals and businesses looking to responsibly manage outdated electronics.
By partnering with organizations like Zibi, ERA continues to advance the circular economy by helping electronics stay in use longer through reuse, repair, and ethical recycling.
Thank You to the Community
ERA would like to thank Zibi, event organizers, and all residents who participated in this successful Earth Day initiative.
Together, we are creating cleaner communities, reducing waste, and giving technology a second life.
