ERA Donates 20 Laptops to Stoney Nakoda Child and Family Services Society
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support Indigenous education and digital inclusion through the donation of 20 refurbished laptops to Stoney Nakoda Child and Family Services Society in Alberta.
The laptops will help support students participating in the Diploma of Indigenous Social Work Program being delivered in Mînî Thnî through a partnership between Stoney Nakoda Nation and First Nations University of Canada.
This community-based program creates an important pathway to post-secondary education for members of the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney First Nations. By bringing education directly into the community, the program helps reduce barriers such as relocation, transportation, housing costs, childcare challenges, and separation from family and community supports.
The program’s second cohort begins in September 2026 with 35 students. Courses are delivered through a hybrid learning model, making reliable access to computers especially important.
For some students, access to technology has remained a significant challenge. Without a personal computer, students may have to rely on smartphones to access course materials, complete assignments, communicate with instructors, and participate in online learning.
ERA’s donation of 20 laptops will help provide students with greater access to the technology they need to succeed in their studies while developing valuable digital skills.
