BGCBIGS Receives Technology on Giving Tuesday

It’s Giving Tuesday, we are pleased to have donated 23 devices (16 laptops, 3 printers, and 4 projectors) to the Boys and Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sister of Edmonton (BGCBIGS). They are a community-supported organization committed to the healthy development of children, youth, and their families by providing safe places, positive relationships, services, and opportunities to develop personal strengths and interpersonal skills that enhance their long-term success in life.

Speaking with Kristen Huggett, Youth Development Facilitator at BGCBIGS she expressed her thanks, “We are very thankful for this donation and what it means to the families in our program. Of all the families that we serve, many don’t have the resources to get computers for their children to work on homework, to look for jobs, or just for fun. Because of the donations from the ERA we’re able to put more opportunities in the hands of our clients.”

Their vision is that all children and youth will have an enriching experience growing up and achieve success in life. We were thrilled to work with them to ensure that their clients receive technology to enhance their daily lives. Some families will use these donated devices to progress in school, improve their computer literacy, and update their resumes in hope of finding jobs and to be used as a tool when communicating with their families and friends.

We wish them the best of luck with these devices. If you would like to learn more about this organization, please visit them here.

What is Giving Tuesday? Giving Tuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies, and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday. Check it out here.
