The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is partnering with YMCA of Southwestern Ontario to support a multi-location electronics collection initiative across London, Ontario.
From October 7 to October 15, 2026, three YMCA locations in London will collect unwanted electronics for responsible recycling, secure data wiping, and potential reuse.
This initiative supports ERA’s ongoing mission to reduce electronic waste, extend the useful life of technology, and make responsible electronics recycling more accessible within local communities.
Electronics Collection in London: October 7–15, 2026
The electronics collection will take place at the following YMCA of Southwestern Ontario locations:
- Centre Branch YMCA – 382 Waterloo St, London, ON N6B 2N8
- Stoney Creek YMCA – 920 Sunningdale Rd E, London, ON N5X 0H5
- Startech YMCA – 501 Southdale Rd W, London, ON N6K 3X4
During the collection period, participating locations will gather unwanted electronics for ERA.
ERA will provide the required collection bins and coordinate the pickup of collected electronics once the event period is complete.
Supporting Responsible Electronics Recycling in London
Businesses, organizations, and community facilities often accumulate outdated or unwanted electronics over time.
ERA helps organizations manage this equipment through responsible recycling, secure data handling, refurbishment, and reuse programs.
Electronics collected through the YMCA initiative may include items such as:
- laptops and desktop computers;
- monitors and displays;
- servers and workstations;
- loose hard drives;
- tablets and cell phones;
- keyboards, mice, cables, and other electronic equipment.
Where appropriate, reusable technology may be assessed for refurbishment and prepared for another use. Equipment that has reached the end of its usable life will be directed through responsible recycling channels.
Secure Data Wiping for Collected Electronics
ERA also provides secure data wiping services for applicable data-bearing equipment.
This helps ensure that devices containing stored information are properly handled before they are reused or recycled.
Participating YMCA locations may also receive basic equipment counts for applicable electronics collected during the initiative.
Giving Technology a Second Life
ERA believes that electronics should be reused whenever practical before being recycled.
Extending the life of technology can help reduce electronic waste while creating opportunities for refurbished equipment to support charities, non-profits, schools, and community programs.
