The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to announce the donation of 10 refurbished laptops to the Pictou County Continuous Learning Association (PCCLA) in Nova Scotia. This donation will help expand access to digital skills training and provide adult learners with the technology they need to succeed in their educational journeys.
Empowering Adult Learners Through Technology
The Pictou County Continuous Learning Association plays an important role in helping adults achieve their educational goals. The organization supports learners working toward their Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC), formerly known as the GED, by preparing them for examinations in Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
In addition to academic preparation, PCCLA provides essential digital literacy training through the Northstar Digital Literacy curriculum, helping learners develop practical computer skills and work toward digital skills certification.
As demand for its programs continues to grow, access to reliable technology has become increasingly important.
Meeting a Growing Need
Last year, PCCLA experienced an impressive 40% increase in enrollment, reaching 61 learners, with even more participants expected this school year.
Previously, the organization had just eight computer stations available for digital skills training, limiting the number of learners who could participate simultaneously.
With ERA’s donation of 10 additional laptops, PCCLA can now accommodate up to 18 learners at one time, more than doubling its previous training capacity.
This expansion will allow instructors to serve larger groups, maximize classroom time, and provide more adults with opportunities to strengthen their digital literacy skills.
Giving Technology a Second Life
At ERA, we believe that access to technology should never be a barrier to education or opportunity.
By collecting, refurbishing, and redistributing unwanted electronics, ERA helps bridge the digital divide while keeping reusable technology out of landfills.
This donation demonstrates how retired electronics can be transformed into valuable educational resources that make a lasting difference in communities.
Does your business have retired or unwanted laptops, computers, or other electronics?
