The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) has recently extended a helping hand to the Canadian Peacemakers International (CPI) by donating 25 desktop computers. This contribution aims to support CPI’s CAL in Honduras program, a pivotal step towards fostering positive change and empowerment.

Canadian Peacemakers International (CPI), headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, is committed to peace-building and transforming impoverished communities in Honduras and Sub-Saharan Africa. Their approach encompasses leadership development, housing, food security, economic opportunities, and self-sufficiency through education and vocational training.

In today’s digital landscape, access to technology is synonymous with opportunity. For underserved communities, technology can break the chains of poverty. Computers open doors to education, training, and remote work possibilities, enabling individuals to acquire skills that empower them.

ERA’s contribution to the CAL in Honduras program will make a substantial difference. By integrating technology, CPI can enhance their education and training efforts, fostering digital literacy and providing access to online resources.

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. For over nineteen years, ERA has offered simple solutions to help individuals and organizations prevent operational equipment from premature destruction. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada. We believe that reuse before recycling is critical in managing the waste created by computer hardware, and by offering industry leading data destruction for all equipment we receive, we have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment. Because not everything ERA receives can be reasonably repurposed, we have partnered with certified recycling organizations to process equipment that has reached the end of its productive life.

Get involved with the Electronic Recycling Association and help work towards a future without e-waste. Invite the ERA to your community cleanup, host an e-waste fundraiser, spend some time volunteering at the ERA, or initiate an e-waste collection at your business.

Consider dropping off your pre-loved electronics to ERA and we will work to donate them to those who need them most!
