ERA Donates Computer to Nisa Homes in Calgary

By electronic recycling association November 30, 2020

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is pleased to assist Nisa Homes with a donated desktop computer. Their mission is to empower women to regain confidence, means, and ability to start afresh. Some of the children will be using the computer for school work especially now that their schools are closed for the foreseeable future.

Nisa Homes is a group of transitional homes (long-term shelters) for immigrant, refugee, non-status, and Muslim women who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. They are a safe haven for women experiencing domestic violence, poverty, homelessness, or seeking asylum. This home is a centre of empowerment where the vulnerable are given hope, the broken are rebuilt and the helpless are given their dignity.  Check out their website for more information.

The ERA works with charities across the country to provide refurbished electronics for their programs. This gives them access to reliable technology while allowing them to apply their resources to what they’re good at: developing programs to help Canadians struggling with poverty, health concerns, or are otherwise experiencing misfortune. Because the Electronic Recycling Association is an advocate of equality, we are not specifically affiliated with a given charity. The ERA helps hundreds of charitable organizations each year through the donation of necessary computer equipment. Organizations qualified for donations through ERA’s donation program include: registered charities, non-profit organizations, care facilities (seniors homes, hospitals, daycares, etc.) and educational institutions.

We strive to meet reasonable requests for IT and related equipment, such as computers, laptops, projection equipment, printers, phones and related peripherals. Our goal is to fulfill every single reasonable request for a computer donation that we receive, and we are thrilled to announce that we are getting close to achieving this goal. Since 2004, we have donated thousands of computers to Canadians in need and this number grows daily.

If you are looking to safely and securely dispose of any unwanted electronics, call the ERA to see if you are eligible for a free pickup. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment, and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada. We believe that reuse before recycling is critical in managing the waste created by computer hardware, and by offering industry-leading data destruction for all equipment we receive, we have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment. Because not everything ERA receives can be reasonably repurposed, we have partnered with certified recycling organizations to process equipment that has reached the end of its productive life.
