Partnering together to make a difference in the lives of Calgarians with the gift of technology.
Ruckify has been helping United Way by supplying them with electronics for donations. The Electronic Recycling Association got involved when Ruckify was looking for an organization to process the equipment. ERA loves to support the community by donating computers to charities, non-profits, schools and care facilities and wanted to see if they could help with more than just technical work. This is how the partnership between the 3 organizations blossomed into everyone working together to help each other and assist those in need.
ERA was delighted to assist The Alex Community Health Centre with 30 laptops alongside Ruckify and United Way. For nearly half a century, The Alex has been moving Calgarians from poverty to stability, and from crisis to wellness and we are happy we can help make a positive impact in their clients’ lives.

Viewing regular access to a personal computer as a non-essential luxury is a thing of the past. Even basic activities now require the use of a computer; applying for a job, completing schoolwork, staying in touch with family or even something as simple as looking up a bus route is difficult without a computer. The ERA has developed a charitable computer donation program to address exactly that problem.
Everyone needs a hand at one point or another, and everyone deserves a fair shot at a good life. That’s why United Way exists—to improve lives locally. But in a city of nearly 1.4 million people, it is impossible for one individual or organization to respond to all the social needs—strong partnerships are key to creating change in our community. United Way of Calgary and Area operates within a strong network of social services to build a connected system of community supports so everyone has access to programs and services when they need them, guaranteeing daily assistance for our community’s most vulnerable people.
