Nearly 900 devices donated in just the first five months of 2026
At the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), every donated device represents a new opportunity to create positive change.
Thanks to the generosity of corporate donors, community partners, and individuals, since January ERA has distributed nearly 900 refurbished devices and technology assets to charities, schools, community organizations, and individuals across Canada. These donations help bridge the digital divide, support education, strengthen nonprofit operations, and keep valuable electronics out of landfills.
Supporting Charities from Coast to Coast
In recent months, ERA has provided laptops, desktop computers, tablets, phones, projectors, printers, and other technology to organizations making a meaningful difference in their communities.
Recent recipients include:
- The Native Women’s Shelter (Montreal, QC)
- Park Street Education (Toronto, ON)
- The Salvation Army (Edmonton, AB)
- Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (Ottawa, ON)
- Nova Scotia Environmental Network (Halifax, NS)
- Wabanaki Two-Spirit Alliance (Nova Scotia)
- Rocky Mountain Adaptive Sports Centre (Alberta)
- Saint Benedicts Table (Winnipeg, MB)
- Autism in Mind (Toronto, ON)
- YMCA of Saskatoon (SK)
- Centre for Newcomers (Calgary, AB)
- Canadian Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA) (Calgary, AB)
These organizations use donated technology to support education, workforce development, accessibility initiatives, newcomer services, community programming, and essential support services for vulnerable populations.
Impact Across Canada
ERA’s recent donation efforts have helped provide:
- 611 laptops
- 81 desktop computers
- 62 tablets and iPads
- 65 mobile phones
- Dozens of projectors, monitors, printers, and other technology devices
Each device donated helps create new opportunities for learning, employment, communication, and community support while reducing electronic waste.
Over 1,000 Charities Still Waiting for Technology
While nearly 900 devices have already been distributed, the need remains significant. More than 1,000 charities, schools, community groups, and nonprofit organizations are currently on ERA’s waitlist for technology.
Many of these organizations rely on donated equipment to serve newcomers, students, seniors, individuals with disabilities, low-income families, and other vulnerable populations.
The good news is that every donation matters.
Whether your organization has one laptop or hundreds of devices, your contribution can make a meaningful difference. A single laptop can help a student complete schoolwork, support a job seeker entering the workforce, or provide a nonprofit with the tools needed to deliver critical community services.
Your Company’s Unused Technology Can Make a Difference
If your organization has retired laptops, desktop computers, tablets, monitors, phones, or other IT equipment, ERA can securely refurbish and redistribute those devices to charities and individuals who need them most.
By donating your unused technology, you can:
- Support charities and nonprofits across Canada
- Advance digital inclusion and accessibility
- Reduce electronic waste and extend the life of technology
- Strengthen your organization’s environmental and social impact
Together, we can reduce e-waste, extend the life of technology, and create more opportunities for communities across Canada.
