Looking for a meaningful way to give back on the weekends? The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is launching a Volunteer Driver Program that gives community members the opportunity to collect unwanted electronics from local residents while creating a positive environmental and social impact.
By volunteering just a few hours on a Saturday, you’ll help keep electronic waste out of landfills and ensure reusable technology reaches charities, schools, and nonprofit organizations that need it most.
Volunteer drivers also make it easier for people who may not be able to transport electronics themselves, including seniors, people with mobility challenges or disabilities, veterans, caregivers, individuals recovering from illness or surgery, low-income families, those without reliable transportation, and people living alone who can’t move heavy equipment.
ERA coordinates the pickup routes, and volunteers use their own cars, SUVs, vans, or trucks to collect donated electronics in their local area. Once the items arrive at an ERA depot, reusable devices are securely refurbished and donated to organizations in need, while non-reusable electronics are responsibly recycled.
As a volunteer driver, you’ll help:
- Reduce electronic waste and protect the environment.
- Support charities, schools, and nonprofits with refurbished technology.
- Bridge the digital divide by helping provide access to computers and devices.
- Make technology recycling more accessible in your community.
The program is flexible—you choose the Saturdays that work for your schedule. Whether you’re a student, retiree, family, or simply someone looking to give back, volunteering is an easy way to create lasting impact.
Every computer, laptop, tablet, monitor, or other electronic device collected has the potential to become a valuable resource for someone else. Technology that is no longer needed by one household can help a student succeed in school, support someone searching for employment, or provide a nonprofit with the tools it needs to serve its community.
Join the Electronic Recycling Association and help transform unwanted electronics into new opportunities while supporting sustainability and responsible electronics recycling.
