The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to continue its mission of reducing electronic waste while expanding access to technology around the world. Through a recent donation of laptops and mobile phones, ERA is helping strengthen education, digital literacy, and sustainable community development initiatives in Sierra Leone.
In partnership with NNinkie of Germany, the donated devices are supporting the Amazonian Initiative Movement (AIM), a local NGO dedicated to empowering communities through education, income-generating opportunities, and the fight against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
The technology is also benefiting students and lecturers through a partnership with a local university, where practice-based research focuses on sustainable development projects rooted in local knowledge. International students from Germany and the Netherlands recently joined the program, sharing valuable digital skills, including Google Docs, Google Sheets, artificial intelligence (AI), and other online collaboration tools.
The impact of the donation has already been felt.

Access to technology remains a major challenge in many parts of the world. By providing refurbished electronics, ERA is helping bridge the digital divide between the Global North and the Global South, creating new opportunities for education, research, and collaboration.
