Become an ERA Electronics Drop-Off Location in Your Community

By electronic recycling association November 2, 2026

Does your charity or nonprofit have space to collect unwanted electronics? Partner with the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) to become a local electronics drop-off location and help turn retired technology into resources for communities in need.

ERA is inviting qualified charities and nonprofit organizations across Canada to host collection locations for 12 months, with particular interest in cities where additional drop-off options are needed.

Help Your Community Donate Unwanted Electronics

A local collection point gives residents and businesses a convenient place to bring electronics they no longer use. Through ERA, equipment can be assessed for refurbishment and reuse, helping extend its useful life. Equipment unsuitable for reuse is directed to responsible recycling.

By hosting an ERA electronics drop-off location, your organization can support technology donations, encourage community participation, and help keep electronic waste out of landfills.

Benefits for Participating Charities and Nonprofits

Support Your Technology Donation Request

Qualified organizations that commit to becoming an ERA drop-off location for one year may receive priority consideration for their technology donation requests. Eligibility, equipment availability, and program conditions apply.

Raise Funds Through Electronics Collection

Eligible equipment collected through ERA’s Moolah for Macros program may qualify for fundraising payments. This gives participating organizations an opportunity to raise funds while encouraging electronics reuse and recycling.

Fundraising eligibility depends on equipment type, condition, and qualifying weight. ERA will explain the applicable payout structure and collection requirements before your organization begins.

Provide a Useful Local Service

Make electronics donation more accessible to people in your neighbourhood. Your location can connect residents, local businesses, and community groups with ERA’s reuse and recycling services.

How the ERA Drop-Off Partnership Works

  1. Contact ERA. Share your organization’s name, location, contact details, and information about your available collection space.
  2. Review eligibility and logistics. ERA will discuss site suitability, accepted equipment, storage, access, and pickup arrangements with your team.
  3. Commit to 12 months. Approved partners agree to host a collection location for one year.
  4. Promote your drop-off point. Share the location, collection hours, and accepted items with your community.
  5. Coordinate equipment pickups. ERA will arrange eligible collections and manage the refurbishment, reuse, and recycling process.

Your organization will need a secure collection space and agreed drop-off hours. Collection arrangements and available resources will be confirmed during setup.

What Electronics Can Your Location Collect?

ERA accepts a wide range of unwanted electronics. Before opening your drop-off location, we will confirm which items your site can receive based on available space, handling requirements, and program terms.

Please note that items accepted for collection may differ from those eligible for fundraising payments. Clear signage will help donors understand what they can bring.
