By electronic recycling association May 5, 2023

In honor of National Police Week, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is partnering with Cobourg Police to hold an electronics recycling fundraiser. This event offers a secure and eco-friendly way to dispose of your unwanted electronics while supporting Cobourg Police’s fundraising efforts for Rebound Child and Youth Services Northumberland.

Don’t let your unwanted electronics clutter up your home, garage, or workplace any longer. From May 15, 2023, to May 31, 2023, you can drop off your devices at the Cobourg Police station located at 107 King Street in Cobourg, Ontario, from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm.

ERA, a non-profit organization that has been in operation since 2004, specializes in data destruction and ensuring that your personal information is kept safe. Their secure data destruction services provide peace of mind by ensuring that your sensitive information is wiped clean or destroyed before being recycled.

Why is it important to recycle electronics?

According to the United Nations, only 20% of the world’s electronic waste is formally recycled. This means that the vast majority of electronic waste ends up in landfills, where it can pose a significant risk to the environment and human health. By recycling your electronics, you can help reduce the amount of electronic waste that ends up in landfills and promote a more sustainable future.

Additionally, electronic devices often contain sensitive personal and corporate data, which can be a target for cybercriminals. By recycling your electronics through ERA’s secure data destruction services, you can protect your personal information and prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.

Do your part to protect the environment and support a worthy cause by dropping off your unwanted electronics at the Cobourg Police station. Let’s work together to create a more sustainable future while ensuring the safety and security of our personal information.
