In an effort to promote sustainable practices and minimize electronic waste’s impact on the environment, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) teamed up with the Abbotsford Police Department for a remarkable electronic shedding and recycling event on Thursday, August 17th, 2023. This event, held at Highstreet Mall in Abbotsford, BC, marked a significant step towards diverting electronic waste from landfills and contributing to a greener future.
The event at Highstreet Mall showcased the potential of collective efforts to tackle the growing challenge of electronic waste disposal. The electronic shedding and recycling event achieved remarkable success by diverting an impressive 4742.10 pounds of E-Waste from the landfill. The discarded electronics, including laptops, smartphones, and tablets, were collected and prevented from ending up in landfills, where they could have contributed to environmental degradation.
Thanks to the conscientious efforts of both ERA and the Abbotsford Police Department, these discarded electronics will not go to waste. Instead, they will be refurbished and given a second life, benefitting local charities within the Abbotsford community. This initiative exemplifies the positive impact that can be achieved when local organizations come together for a shared goal.
