ERA and ECOHamilton Teamed Up for E-Waste Collection Event

By electronic recycling association May 8, 2023

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) recently teamed up with ECOHamilton for their 2nd annual Earth Day Market on May 7th, 2023. The Hamilton community came out to donate their unwanted electronic devices and ERA technicians were on hand to ensure that all data was securely removed, operational equipment was refurbished for reuse, and the rest was recycled responsibly.

E-waste is a growing problem around the world, and it’s important to address it. Did you know that in 2019, the world produced a record 53.6 million metric tonnes of e-waste? That’s equivalent to the weight of 350 cruise ships! In Canada alone, over 540,000 tonnes of e-waste was generated in 2020. It’s crucial that we all do our part in managing this waste and preventing it from ending up in landfills.

As a non-profit organization founded in 2004, ERA’s mission is to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing “digital divide.” They offer simple solutions to prevent premature destruction of operational equipment by focusing on recovery, refurbishment, and reuse. ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada. They believe in reuse before recycling and have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment.

If you have unwanted electronics to donate, book a pickup today and make a difference in managing the waste created by computer hardware. Let’s all work together to create a more sustainable future.
