In an endeavor to promote sustainability and reduce the environmental impact of electronic waste, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) partnered with Green Calgary for a collection and recycling event on October 14th, 2023. This event, held in ERA’s head office parking lot (1315 73 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2H 2X1), showcased the potential of collective action in addressing the growing challenge of electronic waste disposal. By providing a free electronic drop-off and recycling service, the event achieved an outstanding feat, diverting a substantial amount of E-Waste away from landfills. This included discarded electronics like laptops, smartphones, and tablets, saving them from contributing to environmental degradation in landfills.
Thanks to the commitment of Green Calgary, these discarded electronics will not go to waste. Instead, they will be refurbished, given a second life, and utilized to benefit local charities within the Calgary community. This initiative stands as a testament to the transformative power of collaboration among local organizations sharing a common mission. The ERA expresses its deep appreciation to the Green Calgary for their invaluable partnership.
