ERA Donates Tech to Safe Families Canada

By electronic recycling association May 8, 2024

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) recently donated 2 laptops and a printer to the Safe Families Canada Battlefords Chapter in North Battleford, SK.

These donated devices aren’t just pieces of hardware; they’re tools that will facilitate crucial day-to-day administrative work for the organization. The laptops will play a vital role in completing intake processes, conducting assessments of referrals, managing case files, and even facilitating communication through Zoom meetings with the national team. Meanwhile, the printer will be invaluable for producing volunteer information packets and community flyers, further amplifying the organization’s outreach efforts.

Upon receiving the donation, Jessica Garcia, the Chapter Director of Safe Families Canada in Battlefords SK, expressed her gratitude, stating, “We received our computers today and are thrilled! We feel so blessed to have these ‘new to us’ computers for the continuation of the work Safe Families is doing here in the Battlefords.”

Garcia’s words capture the significance of ERA’s contribution. For organizations like Safe Families Canada, whose missions revolve around supporting vulnerable individuals and families, access to technology can make all the difference. In today’s digital age, tasks that were once paper-based have migrated online, and communication often occurs through virtual platforms. Without adequate technological resources, organizations may struggle to efficiently carry out their vital work.

However, through initiatives like ERA’s donation program, barriers to access are being broken down. By repurposing and redistributing electronics, ERA not only diverts e-waste from landfills but also ensures that functional devices find new life in underserved communities. In doing so, they enable organizations like Safe Families Canada to focus their resources on their core mission—supporting those in need—rather than worrying about the logistics of acquiring essential technology.

If you want to make a difference to both people in need, and the environment, then it’s time to start electronic recycling with the ERA. And it’s not as difficult as it seems. We here at the Electronic Recycling Association have made it easy for everyone. If there is any electronic device – cell phone, tablets, laptop – that you want to donate, we will take it off your hands.

You can either drop it off at one of our depots located across Canada or we can organize a pick-up at a time that suits you. It’s that easy!
