The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) has extended a generous hand to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax by donating 25 laptops. This initiative is a part of ERA’s overarching mission, which not only promotes community development but is also deeply rooted in sustainability and digital access.

ERA, founded in 2004, has grown to become a Canadian non-profit organization that stands out as a pioneer in the field of electronic recycling and reuse. Their primary objective is to extend the lifespan of electronic devices, decrease electronic waste, and make a significant contribution to the community through their donation programs and collaborative efforts with various charitable organizations.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax (BBBS) is a well-established and highly respected charitable organization dedicated to helping the youth in the Halifax region. They connect young individuals with mentors who provide guidance, support, and empowerment. The organization’s fundamental mission is to spark a positive transformation in the lives of the youth they serve. Visit their website HERE for more informaiton.

In today’s fast-paced world, access to technology has become indispensable for educational advancement and personal development. Unfortunately, not all families have the means to provide their children with the essential digital tools, creating a digital divide that affects the future prospects of many young individuals.

ERA’s donation of 25 laptops to BBBS is a tangible manifestation of their commitment to bridging this digital divide and nurturing community growth. These laptops will be a lifeline for the young mentees under the care of BBBS. They will provide these children and young adults with the resources they need to explore educational opportunities, engage in skill-building activities, and stay connected with mentors and peers.

What sets ERA apart is not only its dedication to electronic recycling but also its profound sense of responsibility towards the community. Beyond donating laptops, ERA embodies the spirit of cooperation and the positive change it can bring to the community. Collaborating with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax, ERA illustrates how collective efforts can address critical issues such as the digital divide.

ERA’s holistic approach not only aids in reducing electronic waste but also empowers marginalized communities with the digital tools they need to compete and thrive in an increasingly connected world. Their commitment to sustainability and community development resonates as a model for corporate social responsibility, demonstrating the transformative power of strategic partnerships. The ERA’s donation is not merely a one-time act of generosity but an investment in the future of the Halifax community.

The ERA (Electronic Recycling Association), is focused on reducing unnecessary waste and/or environmental impact through effective management of retiring electronic and IT equipment.  As a non-profit organization with deep community roots, it is our “reuse” focus and donation activities that set us apart from others in this sector. We are an ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 Certified Company that offers pickup services, comprehensive data security measures and subsequent reporting. Individuals and organizations alike move through technology hardware for a number of different reasons, and often there is ongoing productive use.  The ERA believes that “reuse” where ever possible is the most ecological approach to this growing stream, and an excellent way to compel real community goodwill at the same time. The Electronic Recycling Association has a clear mission of reducing electronic waste through computer recycling, laptop recycling and computer donation services. With depots throughout Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and all of Canada. ERA provides a great way to recycle electronic equipment safely and securely.
