ERA Joins Forces with PPG & Diabetes Canada for Recycling Collection

By electronic recycling association October 6, 2023

Partners in Project Green’s Recycling Collection Drive is an inspiring employee engagement initiative dedicated to supporting organizations in the collection of clothing and household textiles, with the ultimate goal of reducing waste in landfills and fostering sustainability awareness among employees.

In the upcoming 2023 campaign, scheduled for October 9-22, 2023, we are delighted to reveal a significant expansion of our efforts. In addition to clothing and household textiles, Electronic waste (e-waste) will now be included in the recycling drive!

Why is this expansion so important? E-waste, which includes discarded electronic devices such as old computers, smartphones, and appliances, poses a significant environmental threat when not properly managed. These devices often contain hazardous materials like lead, mercury, and cadmium, which can leach into soil and water, harming the environment and human health.

By incorporating e-waste into our recycling drive, we’re taking a crucial step towards addressing this problem. Recycling e-waste not only prevents these toxic substances from contaminating our ecosystems but also conserves valuable resources by recovering materials like precious metals and plastics.

Moreover, recycling e-waste helps reduce the energy and resources needed to produce new electronics. It contributes to the circular economy, where materials are reused and recycled, reducing the strain on natural resources and lowering greenhouse gas emissions associated with manufacturing.

ERA, in collaboration with PPG and Diabetes Canada, is committed to promoting sustainability and responsible waste management. By participating in Partners in Project Green’s expanded Recycling Collection Drive in 2023, you are not only contributing to a greener, healthier future but also raising awareness about the importance of recycling e-waste among employees and the community at large.

Join us in making a difference by recycling your e-waste and supporting this worthy cause. Together, we can reduce waste in landfills, protect the environment, and build a more sustainable world for generations to come.
