The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) recently donated technology to the Commune of Ambohimangakely in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
The Commune of Ambohimangakely is a vibrant community with dreams and aspirations, but like many other rural areas, it faces challenges in accessing modern technology. Their donation included 10 desktop computers, 1 projector, and 5 tablets, serving as invaluable tools for progress in this remote region.
For the town’s staff, the provision of 5 desktop computers means enhanced efficiency and effectiveness in their administrative duties. With access to modern computing resources, tasks that were once time-consuming can now be completed with ease, freeing up valuable time for other essential responsibilities.
However, perhaps the most exciting aspect of the donation is the establishment of a computer training center for children. With 5 desktops and 5 tablets dedicated to this initiative, young minds in Ambohimangakely are being equipped with the skills they need to thrive in the digital age. Through structured training programs, these children will learn essential computer literacy skills, opening doors to a world of opportunities previously beyond their reach.
Honorable Mayor RADAFY Thierry and his colleagues were instrumental in facilitating the donation, underscoring the collaborative effort required to drive positive change in underserved communities. Their dedication to the welfare and development of Ambohimangakely is evident.
We need to keep supporting projects that help people in remote areas get technology and learn how to use it. Through continued collaboration between governments, non-profit organizations, and private enterprises, we can work towards a future where every community has the tools they need to thrive in the digital age.
If you want to make a difference to both people in need, and the environment, then it’s time to start electronic recycling with the ERA. And it’s not as difficult as it seems. We here at the Electronic Recycling Association have made it easy for everyone. If there is any electronic device – cell phone, tablets, laptop – that you want to donate, we will take it off your hands.
