The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) was happy to support a charitable organization in Calgary called Harvest Hills Cares with 5 laptops and 5 smartphones. Harvest Hills Cares is a grassroots organization that began the moment the Covid-19 Pandemic hit the City of Calgary. “What we do is provide food hampers to families in need throughout the entire city. We are pleased to partner with the Electronic Recycling Association in this endeavour to provide tech to families and children and individuals in need. An individual is strong by themselves but as a community, we are all stronger together! YYC!” exclaimed founder Jennifer Kremenik.

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a nonprofit group that started in 2004 to deal with two big issues: the increasing amount of electronic waste (like old devices) and the gap between people who have access to technology and those who don’t. For almost 20 years, ERA has been providing easy solutions to help regular people and businesses keep their working devices from being thrown away too soon.

ERA’s main goal is to make things better by recovering, fixing up, and reusing devices. They keep giving charitable organizations donated computer stuff and manage the process of retiring old computer equipment for businesses and individuals all across Canada. ERA believes that it’s super important to reuse things before recycling, especially when it comes to computer parts. They make sure that all the data on the devices they get is securely destroyed. By doing this, they’ve managed to reuse a lot of equipment instead of letting it go to waste.

However, not everything ERA gets can be used again. That’s why they’ve teamed up with special recycling groups that are certified to properly take apart and recycle equipment that’s no longer useful. So, even when things can’t be used anymore, they’re taken apart the right way.

In ERA’s world, old technology gets a new chance, the gap between technology haves and have-nots gets smaller, and a big effort is made to reduce waste and recycle responsibly. Check out their website HERE to book your pick up today!
