A Convenient Way to Recycle Electronics in Kanata

Old laptops, computers, phones, monitors, printers, and other electronics can easily accumulate in homes and workplaces. Many of these devices still contain reusable parts or materials and should not simply be thrown away.

The upcoming Kanata electronics collection event gives the community an opportunity to responsibly clear out unwanted technology while helping reduce electronic waste.

ERA will assess the electronics collected during the event. Equipment that can be reused may be refurbished and given a second life, while non-reusable devices will be directed through responsible recycling channels.

Reusable technology may also support ERA’s Technology Donation Program, which provides refurbished equipment to charities, schools, community organizations, students, newcomers, and other groups in need.

ERA and KBCA Working Together for the Community

The partnership between ERA and the Kanata Beaverbrook Community Association makes responsible electronics recycling more accessible to residents while promoting environmental awareness and technology reuse.

ERA will support the event with its collection team, equipment, banners, signage, transportation coordination, and electronics processing.

KBCA will help connect the initiative with the local community and provide a convenient collection location at the Beaverbrook Centre.

Together, the organizations aim to make participation simple while encouraging residents to think differently about what happens to electronics they no longer need.

Why Participate?

By bringing unwanted electronics to the event, participants can:

  • Reduce electronic waste in the Kanata community
  • Give reusable technology an opportunity for a second life
  • Support responsible electronics recycling
  • Clear unused electronics from homes and workplaces
  • Help support technology reuse and community donation programs
  • Promote a more circular approach to electronics

Even electronics that are no longer useful to one person or business may still have value through refurbishment, parts recovery, or responsible recycling.

Make a Positive Local Impact

Community collection events help give unwanted electronics a second life while keeping valuable materials in use for longer.

ERA is proud to partner with KBCA on this initiative and encourages residents to participate, clear out unused electronics, and support a more sustainable community.

Organizations interested in hosting a similar electronics collection event can connect with ERA to explore future partnership opportunities.
