ERA and Langley RCMP Host Fourth Annual Electronics Shredding Fundraiser
On March 6th, 2025, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) proudly partnered with the Langley RCMP for our fourth annual electronics shredding event at the Otter Co-op Retail Centre. This community-driven initiative successfully raised $1,000 in support of Langley’s Raphael House, a vital organization providing essential services to those in need.
This yearly event is held to raise awareness of Fraud Prevention Month and educate the public on the importance of data security. By offering secure hard drive shredding and responsible e-waste recycling, we help individuals and businesses protect themselves from fraud and identity theft.
The event saw tremendous participation from local residents and businesses, demonstrating a shared commitment to responsible e-waste recycling and data security. More than 100 hard drives were securely shredded on-site, ensuring the safe disposal of sensitive information. Additionally, a significant number of electronic devices were collected for reuse and recycling, including 42 computers, 65 laptops, 91 cell phones and 25 tablets. Other items such as monitors, printers, and servers were also responsibly processed, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment. These collected devices will be refurbished and donated to charities in need, further amplifying the event’s impact.
In total, over 1691.5 pounds of e-waste were diverted from landfills, reinforcing ERA’s ongoing mission to reduce electronic waste and promote environmental sustainability. This annual event not only helps protect the planet but also supports valuable community programs through charitable contributions.
