Tech Donations to Organizations in Montreal, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg

By electronic recycling association August 19, 2020

For over 15 years, the Electronic Recycling Association has been refurbishing unwanted electronics and donating them to thousands of charities, schools, non-profits, and care centers. While we receive hundreds of donation requests each year, we’re always ecstatic about the various organizations we’re able to assist. Each organization that has received a donation from the ERA supports the communities we operate in, and we’re proud to give back and support them in return.

Earlier this year, we donated 1 laptop to Le Club Culturel et Sportif Ouest Can (West-Can Folk Performing Co). This organization is a long-established afro-Caribbean performing group located in Quebec. The group was founded over 30 years ago by recent immigrants to Canada. Their vision was to showcase the Caribbean culture abroad. Today, the group is led mostly by first-generation Canadians who continue to learn and demonstrate aspects of afro-Caribbean folk culture that has been passed on from their parents and elders. Le Club Culturel et Sportif Ouest Can has touched the hearts of many through exciting performances, theatrical presentations, and drum and dance workshops. Having recently moved into a new studio with an office space, they started a brand-new community project. The project coordinator required a laptop to fulfill the obligations of the role, and the ERA was delighted to provide them with a laptop to do so.

The ERA also donated 1 laptop to the Saskatoon Zoo Foundation for their Silent Auction event. The funds raised during the Silent Auction goes directly to the beloved Saskatoon Zoo – a place that focuses on conservation while providing a fun experience for families. To date, the Saskatoon Zoo Foundation has raised close to $7 million dollars for projects and improvements to create an environment that promotes education, conservation, and research at the zoo. The Saskatoon Zoo and its Foundation are a team of people who work hard to turn charitable donations into memorable experiences that people of all ages can enjoy.

And finally, we donated 2 laptops to the Christmas Cheer Board of Greater Winnipeg. This organization was in need of a laptop that could run Microsoft Access and Office 365. The Christmas Cheer Board provides hampers and gifts to children, families, and individuals who are receiving Employment Insurance, pensioners, low-income families, and recent immigrants. The two laptops donated modernized their donation receipts application and they are now able to email electronic receipts to donners that help fund the charity.

Dropping off your electronics at the ERA means we’re able to continue providing the necessary equipment to organizations and individuals in need of proper, working devices. Even if you have that old PC sitting in the back of your storage closet that won’t turn on, the ERA can take many parts that are still functioning and utilize it towards creating a new device for someone to bring their vision, mission, and goals to life.
