By electronic recycling association July 6, 2023

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is absolutely thrilled to shower the Brain Injury Society of Toronto (BIST) with the gift of 3 laptops, bringing joy and connectivity to their clients. We’ve had the pleasure of donating to them before, and witnessing the immense gratitude and positive impact that a computer can have on someone’s life is truly heartwarming.

BIST, a fantastic non-profit community organization, stands strong in their mission to support individuals affected by acquired brain injuries in Toronto. Their members encompass a diverse range of individuals, including children, young adults, parents, spouses, grandparents, professionals, and service providers. Membership is open to anyone in need. BIST’s unwavering dedication lies in enhancing the quality of life for those navigating the effects of acquired brain injury through education, awareness, support, and advocacy.

In Ontario alone, approximately 18,000 people experience brain injuries each year. The direct and indirect costs associated with these injuries are estimated at a staggering $1 billion annually. The consequences of brain injuries ripple beyond the individual, affecting family members, friends, and the wider community. Areas such as self-esteem, social relationships, employment status, and school/work performance may all bear the impact of a brain injury.

The Brain Injury Society of Toronto provides a nurturing environment for individuals with brain injuries and their families to connect, socialize, and learn. Moreover, they go the extra mile to support the most vulnerable members of their community through initiatives tackling homelessness, poverty, and intimate partner violence. BIST acts as a powerful advocate for change, actively engaging in projects and committees related to acquired brain injuries and the justice system.

Here at the Electronic Recycling Association, we are deeply committed to fostering a community of innovation and connectivity. As a non-profit organization ourselves, we witness firsthand the transformative power of supporting the communities we serve. By providing electronic devices, we enable charitable organizations like BIST to continue their vital mission of bringing people together in a space of creativity and connection.

Our emphasis on reusing electronics not only reduces the amount of electronic waste ending up in landfills but also empowers local organizations in towns and cities across the nation. If you have a printer, laptop, or projector that you’re not using, consider donating it to an organization in your community. The ERA maintains a list of charities eagerly awaiting computer donations, all of whom could greatly benefit from your generosity.

When you donate a laptop to the ERA, you’re opening doors for another organization to start a new program, expand their administrative team or volunteer base, or teach youth and seniors exciting digital skills. As our society races forward in technological advancement, the demand for updated electronics to support these community initiatives skyrockets. Join us in making a difference and check out our list of charities eagerly awaiting computer donations. Together, we can make a world of difference and create a brighter, more connected future for all.
