The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support STEM education in Manitoba with the donation of 20 laptops to WISE Kid-Netic Energy on October 1, 2026.
This contribution follows ERA’s donation of five laptops in September 2026, bringing the total to 25 laptops donated to the organization.
Through its Computer Donation Program, ERA helps schools, charities, and non-profit organizations access reliable technology while reducing electronic waste and extending the life of reusable equipment.
Supporting STEM Education and Youth Development in Manitoba
WISE Kid-Netic Energy is a non-profit STEM outreach program based at the University of Manitoba, supported by the Price Faculty of Engineering.
Since 1990, the organization has inspired young people through hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Its programs reach more than 30,000 youth annually through classroom workshops, community activities, extracurricular clubs, camps, and special events.
WISE Kid-Netic Energy serves Kindergarten to Grade 12 students across Manitoba, including rural, northern, and First Nations communities, helping make STEM education more accessible.
ERA’s donation of 20 laptops provides additional technology resources to support these educational initiatives and help students develop essential digital skills.
How Laptop Donations Support STEM Learning
Reliable computers play an important role in modern STEM education, giving students opportunities to explore coding, engineering, digital design, research, and problem-solving.
The donated laptops can support:
- Coding and programming: Developing computer science and technical skills.
- STEM workshops: Supporting interactive lessons and educational activities.
- Digital learning: Providing access to educational software and online resources.
- Program coordination: Helping educators prepare and deliver learning programs.
These additional devices will help WISE Kid-Netic Energy strengthen its technology resources and continue providing engaging educational opportunities for Manitoba youth.
This donation also builds on ERA’s previous contribution of five refurbished laptops in September 2026.

Giving Electronics a Second Life Through Technology Reuse
At ERA, reuse comes before recycling.
Many computers and electronic devices replaced by businesses and individuals remain functional and can continue serving a valuable purpose.
ERA collects unwanted electronics, securely wipes data, tests and refurbishes reusable equipment, and donates suitable devices to eligible organizations across Canada.
This approach helps reduce electronic waste, extend the lifespan of technology, and provide schools, charities, and community organizations with essential digital resources.
The donation to WISE Kid-Netic Energy demonstrates how refurbished technology can support education while promoting environmental sustainability.
When electronics can no longer be reused, ERA ensures they are responsibly recycled.
Supporting Digital Inclusion Across Canada
Access to technology helps young people develop digital literacy, creativity, and practical skills that can support their future education and careers.
By connecting reusable equipment with organizations such as WISE Kid-Netic Energy, ERA helps expand access to technology and encourages hands-on learning opportunities.
Through its Computer Donation Program, ERA continues to support communities across Canada while keeping valuable electronics in use for longer.
