Digital transformation begins with access to reliable technology. Through the Electronic Recycling Association’s (ERA) Madagascar initiative, Madagascar Fanantenana Teknolojia (MFT), 20 refurbished laptops were donated to the Presidency of the Republic of Madagascar to help strengthen the country’s public sector technology infrastructure.
The donated laptops will support administrative operations by improving productivity, communication, document management, and collaboration across government departments. Reliable computing equipment provides the foundation for more efficient public services and future digital government initiatives.
This donation also demonstrates the value of extending the life of technology. Instead of becoming electronic waste, refurbished devices continue serving communities where they can make a meaningful difference. Reusing IT equipment helps reduce e-waste, conserve resources, lower carbon emissions, and expand access to technology while supporting corporate sustainability and ESG goals.
MFT continues to work with governments, schools, charities, and community organizations across Madagascar to improve digital access and create new opportunities through technology. This latest donation marks another step toward building a more connected, efficient, and digitally empowered nation.
For CIOs and technology leaders, responsible IT asset disposition is about more than secure data destruction—it’s an opportunity to create lasting social and environmental impact. Through ERA’s certified refurbishment and recycling programs, retired IT equipment can be securely processed, reused, and donated to organizations that need it most.
Organizations planning a technology refresh can help bridge the digital divide while reducing electronic waste. Every donated device has the potential to support education, government services, and community development both in Canada and internationally.
