This week marks the beginning of Circular Economy Month, an initiative in Canada aimed at raising public awareness and educating Canadians about the importance of building a circular economy. The circular economy model promotes the reuse, repair, refurbishment, repurposing, and recycling of products and materials, ensuring that nothing goes to waste. In a circular economy, products at the end of their life can either be donated in their original form or repurposed for other uses. This approach benefits the environment by reducing the amount of materials ending up in landfills and the demand for raw resources needed to create new materials, ultimately contributing to climate change mitigation, waste reduction, and pollution prevention.
Circular Economy Month perfectly aligns with ERA’s mission to combat electronic waste and its adverse environmental impact by promoting the recovery, refurbishment, and donation of unwanted computers and related electronic equipment. Prioritizing reuse over recycling is a crucial strategy for managing computer hardware waste, and ERA ensures industry-leading data destruction for all received equipment. To date, hundreds of tons of equipment have been securely repurposed, marking significant progress, and ERA is committed to further reducing e-waste.
Throughout the month of October, ERA will organize a series of electronic recycling events across Canada in collaboration with various municipalities, organizations, and educational institutions. You can give your unwanted electronics a new lease on life and join us in the effort to reduce e-waste by dropping them off at the events listed below. If you can’t attend any of the events, you can also conveniently drop off your items at a nearby ERA depot.
